I have been qualified for 14 years having first worked as a SENCo and Dept. Headteacher.

I have been working as an independent EP in west Oxfordshire since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previously, for ten years,  I was working for Hampshire Educational Psychology Service. I was the lead E.P. on an SEN Mathematics intervention across Hampshire. Therapeutic Story Writing was, and still is, a key area of interest. I have worked throughout nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools and colleges.

I have led training events and supervised professionals in a number of roles and contexts.

I bring a thorough knowledge of psychological theory with a sound understanding of child development.

In working in partnership with the student, empowering and equipping them with the psychological skills  and practical strategies. I aim to promote

resilience and

self-confidence thereby enabling the student to  flourish, succeed and achieve.

Working with those around the student is key to helping them see the student's situation through the lens of a psychological perspective, promoting empathy and encouragement.

I have been an EP for 25 years within a local authority. Previously, I was a primary school teacher for three years.

My interests lie in adoption, selective mutism, preschool, post 16 and critical incidences

 (which involves loss and bereavement)

as well as attachment and trauma.

Most recently, I have been on a secondment supporting a regional adoption agency within a local authority.

I use principles from solution focussed approaches

to inform my practice

as they are strength based and enabling.

Supervision is an area of my work that I enjoy and value, providing a safe psychological space, sharing different supervision models and acting as a trusted facilitator in helping to empower others to recognise and utilise their strengths and inner resources to a formulate a plan of action where necessary.

I have delivered individual and group supervision to many professionals within education and in social care.

I have considerable experience as a supervisor for Trainee EPs.
